Fetish Animal Carvings
Fetish animal carvings are created by a handful of Native American Tribes in the southwest. Zuni Pueblo is probably the most well known for their Zuni Fetish Carvings. The Navajo (Dine') people also make animal carvings as doartists from the Cochiti Pueblo and the Isletta Pueblo.
The eagle is the guardian of the sky or upper region and symbolizes unification with the Greater Spirit. The eagle carries the power of intuition, creativity, healing, and spirit; additionally, the spirit of the eagle transcends personal problems.
This traditional style eagle was carved by Zuni artist Gabriel Boone and measures 2 1/4” in length by 1” in height.
